🇪🇸 getting woke and hot

• get this:

  • the spanish government passed a decree that makes it illegal to set ac below 27c (that's 80.6 in farenheit!) in public buildings

    • airports, bars, cinemas, etc.

• and in the winter(!)…

  • public buildings won't be allowed to set heating above 19c (that's 66.2 farenheit!)

• this comes into effect... well, today, as you're reading this!

• this may hurt tourism in spain, but the royal decree just pushed through

🇺🇸 also in america

• just about ten days after i wrote about it, the inflation reduction act was passed by the senate on sunday!

• the bill includes anything from healthcare to tax changes. let's focus on climate for today.

  • in addition to the extension of the $7.5k income tax credit for buying electric vehicles, now there's a new $4k credit for buying a used ev

• don't think TSLA 0.00 right away though!

  • the bill applies to eligible new cars that sell for $55k or less and trucks/vans less than $80k

    • same goes with LCID 0.00 and RIVN 0.00 – most of their vehicles don't make the cut

  • and, the bill is really sending a message home by requiring that 40% of battery components be sourced from us factories or fta partners
