he was shot by a man wielding a homemade firearm

the news put the country and the world in shock as:
abe was the longest serving prime minister in japanese history
japan does not allow possession of guns so shooting incidents are uncommon
one man was capable of murdering a high ranking political figure
this chain of thought, naturally, leads one to ask if the assassination was political
✔️ intention
the killer is tetsuya yamagami, a former member of the japanese maritime self defense force
his mother was a devoted believer of the unification church and made large donations, causing yamagami’s family to lead a hard life
it has been reported that he had a grudge against abe, who he says had affiliations to the church
based on the information so far, the assassination was due to a personal vendetta and not a political motive
