đ” what does macro really mean?
itâs no big deal if you canât predict the market
but itâs critical that you understand the why behind price movements
đ macro:
economic, natural, or geopolitical elements that affect a whole countryâs (or the worldâs) economy. here are two quick examples we saw in the markets today
biden called for a three-month federal gas tax "holiday" â americans would save roughly 3.6% at gas stations. this could be affecting consumer consumption behaviors, oil demand, a whole of other things.
fed chair jerome powell said that a recession is "certainly a possibility" â heâs the head of americaâs central bank and therefore moves world economies, so yeah, whenever he says stuff like that, it moves investorsâ capital from one place. (just an aside, i say âduhâ, a lot of us has already known that a recession is a âpossibilityâ, so what he said today did not affect the markets that much. classic powellâŠ)
