🐵 what does macro really mean?
it’s no big deal if you can’t predict the market
but it’s critical that you understand the why behind price movements
📖 macro:
economic, natural, or geopolitical elements that affect a whole country’s (or the world’s) economy. here are two quick examples we saw in the markets today
biden called for a three-month federal gas tax "holiday" – americans would save roughly 3.6% at gas stations. this could be affecting consumer consumption behaviors, oil demand, a whole of other things.
fed chair jerome powell said that a recession is "certainly a possibility" – he’s the head of america’s central bank and therefore moves world economies, so yeah, whenever he says stuff like that, it moves investors’ capital from one place. (just an aside, i say “duh”, a lot of us has already known that a recession is a “possibility”, so what he said today did not affect the markets that much. classic powell…)
