🦍 heart on my sleeve
"doctor appointments as low as $19”
🦍 umg strikes
a song titled heart on my sleeve was removed from streaming services by universal music group (umg) for copyright infringement. it had reached 600k streams on spotify and 15 million tiktok streams.
as an original song with original lyrics and melody, why did it get pulled for copyright reasons?
🦍 not drake and not the weekend
the song was generated with “deepfaked” voices of drake and the weekend, with ai making it sound as if they were singing verses back and forth. umg went strong and said it will not allow ai generated songs that use their artists’ voices without consent
🦍 how will this age?
many companies in creative fields have been taking action against ai software that infringes on their copyright
last october, the recording industry association of america (riaa) strongly warned that ai companies were violating copyrights
getty images sued stability ai for stealing their images without license
it’s a formative time for the arts in general. it’s unclear how much leniency we should give for ai creators using existing works, and in what way these creations should be regulated. i’m sure many industries are still trying to navigate the sphere of ai art and it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out
