🔚 british prime minister liz truss steps down
in just 45 days
i’m sure a lot of wise ape readers were aware of the british disapproval of prime minister liz truss. a quick recap on what happened:
liz truss was elected the new prime minister last month and she promised to implement major cut taxes
as a result, the value of the pound fell dramatically and the UK economy took a big hit
the british cabinet
i have to say though, the biggest takeaway for this ape was it reminded me just how unique the british cabinet system is. take a look and you’ll see what i mean:
every wednesday the ruling party faces off against the shadow cabinet (opposition party) and it feels like a playground fight or a hamilton-style rap battle
🫠 what now?
so, she’s out, what happens next?
there will be a replacement for her by next friday - members of the conservative party will decide who the next prime minister will be
an interesting development is that former prime minister boris johnson might return and take the position - we’ll have to wait until monday to see if he’s nominated

my fair lady (1964) was released! quite a charming film, based on george bernard shaw’s brilliant play pygmalion (1913)
