🦍 the 65th grammys

on feb 5, the annual grammy awards were held in la. being one of the most prestigious music awards in the world, more than 12 million people tuned in. some notable winners:

• adele won best solo pop performance (“easy on me”), sam smith and kim petras won best pop duo/group performance (“unholy”)

• lizzo won best record of the year for her song, “about damn time”

🦍 album of the year winner

harry styles, for his album harry’s house, took away the award for best album of the year - but there were hecklers at the event screaming that beyonce should have won

under these circumstances, he performed his hit song “as it was” – but there was a surprise in store

🦍 stage malfunction

• the song involves a spinning platform, where dancers have a choreography based on moving and stopping on top of it – they practiced for ten days in preparation

• however, the platform spun in the opposite direction - and the whole team had to improvise on the spot. you can tell they were flustered and even harry styles seems a little nervous – but given the situation, i think they did a good job

🕰 59 years ago today…

the beatles appeared on the ed sullivan show for the first time – almost 74 million people viewed the broadcast. compare that to this year’s grammys!
