• fitch ratings is one of the most prominent credit rating agencies

• the company rates how likely an investment will default or return a lower return than expected

🇺🇸 the current impasse

• the us is on its way to reaching its debt ceiling / limit, tensions are high, but there is a massive deadlock

• the deadline is june 1st, and we have yet to hear the result, as the white house and congressional negotiators are racing to strike a deal

💬 fitch says…

• the nation's aaa rating is under treat from the current political standoff

• it moved the us to "rating watch negative"

  • the last time a rating agency downgraded the us was in 2011 when s&p global ratings downgraded the us from aaa
