oil is evil
climate protesters part of a group called just stop oil sprayed tomato soup on van gogh’s painting sunflower at the national gallery in london
the reason was to raise awareness about oil pollution
thankfully, the painting itself was unharmed
this seems to be part of a trend, and there have been many incidents like this
the mona lisa was smeared with cake in the name of climate protection in may, and was unharmed
does it work?
do you think these are effective protests? there has been some discourse:
some people say that there is an undeniable shock factor that gets the message across, and art is generally protected by bulletproof glass
on the other hand, it doesn’t seem appropriate to deface art for an unrelated cause
guess we should go see these paintings before anyone actually destroys one of them…
